Sam's Story

My name is Sam Senior and I am currently studying to become a doctor at Tygerberg hospital. My baking has become an escape from the stress of my studies and hospital work. What started out as a hobby has fast become a little business that I am very passionate about. I love the challenge that baking presents and the opportunity to exercise my creative side. I feel blessed to be able to use my hobby in order to make others happy, and to me that is the true reward.
Baking has always fascinated me especially as I have a massive sweet tooth. As a child I used to mess up the kitchen, trying to come up with my own special creations. Unfortunately, I had no idea what I was doing and did not have any recipes to follow so most of my creations were inedible. Since my mum never baked, it was up to me to teach myself. Although I am a self-taught baker, I do have my lovely granny to thank for some of the best recipes (and pinterest). I also have to thank my family and friends, especially my dad Ashley, for selflessly volunteering to be my taste-testers (although I don’t know who benefits most from this exchange). I also have to give thanks to my mums, Angela and Priscilla, for putting up with the mess I am constantly creating.
I am hoping to one day open my own bakery!
